Thank you, Halden!

At the moment I really like the part about Jesus' salvation for the "sick." He is a big Savior, which makes me love Him that much more! Great post . . .

Thanks for posting this. After reading Matthew earlier in the season, I too have had a name running through my mind; 'and they shall call his name Immanuel, which is translated, "God with us."'

Because this is the first Christmas I've ever spent alone, and I'm in a foreign country, sometimes feeling quite lonely, it struck me on a deep and personal level for the first time that this is what Christmas is about- that Immanuel has come, that God is with us. And the beauty and simplicity of that thought brings me such peace.

I've been watching the hustle and bustle of Christmas all around me and have felt so outside of it all, as if I just skipped it this year. But today it occurred to me that this may have been the first Christmas that I really participated in. I went to church all alone. I exchanged peace with perfect strangers. I listened to the gospel in a foreign tongue. I really noticed the homeless all around me, and though I couldn't afford to send Christmas presents home, I realized that I certainly had some centimes to share with those shivering in the streets. The message of Christ struck me as more universal and at the same time more particular than ever before.

In a strange way I've enjoyed this Christmas spent toute seule in Paris. It's been a reminder that I'm not alone, Immanuel has come. He's come for me, and all these strangers, and all these homeless, and he's come to save us. So thanks for your blog. It's another thing that's been keeping me good company here. Joyeux Noel!
